Math Instruction in the Flat Rock Community School District
Through research we know that the results of the standard approach to math instruction, students often can’t take the methods they’ve been taught and transfer them to problems even slightly different from those they’re used to. At FRCS a balanced instructional approach will be used. A balanced approach takes both the traditional methods through routine skills and integrates it with a more inquiry based system. This guarantees that instruction no longer centers around students as passive absorbers of knowledge but rather are active participants who construct, transform, and integrate knowledge.
FRCS utilizes the Math Workshop Model to deliver the Math Curriculum.
