Homework

We will have the following homework:

Math Home links

At the beginning of each unit students will receive a home link packet with all of the lessons.  I will assign the lesson at the beginning of each week.  At the end of the unit home link packets must be returned.  We will grade them as a review for the assessment.  The night before the unit test students will bring home the packet and a study guide.  Students that complete the home links do better at mastering the concepts.

Spelling

Each week we have a different spelling target.  As a class we will create a list on Friday.  This list will follow the spelling pattern related to our Literacy by Design reading curriculum.  Use this spelling list to practice words at home during the week.  We take a spelling test every Friday.

Reading

The more we read the better reader we will become.  I suggest that students read 20 minutes every day.  Students are permitted to bring one library book home weekly.  I will also send home a monthly reading log that students must return at the end of the month.

Vocabulary

As part of our reading curriculum we have 5 vocabulary words with definitions every week.  These words are used as part of Reading Theme test that week take every two weeks. 

Independent Projects

These might include a book report, writing assignment, or science/social studies projects.  I will send home details and additional information when these assignments occur.
