In young fives, we work to build a literacy foundation for your child and it all begins with learning letters and their sounds. In my classroom, it seems children learn these fundamentals in the following order:
- Capital Letters
- Lowercase Letters
- Letter Sounds
...So start with capital letters! Help your child to practice the capital letters in his/ her name. Once he/ she knows those letters inside and out, add 2 more. It is better to start with fewer letters as to build confidence and not overwhelm kiddos with all 26 letters at once. :)
